Volunteer Opportunities
If you're passionate about community service, care deeply for people and have the time and energy, we'd love to have your help at Longview Regional Medical Center. Volunteering opportunities are available in various departments throughout our hospital. Get in touch, and let's talk about how can help each other.
About the Volunteer Auxiliary
Since 1980, the volunteer auxiliary has been one of our most valuable resources and an extension of our Longview Regional Medical Center family. By joining the volunteer family, you gain new skills, meet interesting people, form new friendships and receive the satisfaction of making a difference in other people's lives.
What does a volunteer do?
Volunteers provide support to hospital staff while extending hospitality to patients, family members and visitors. The volunteer auxiliary also conducts fundraisers to provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors pursuing a career in healthcare, and support to non-profit community organizations such as Longview Community Ministries, Hope Haven, Highway 80 Rescue Mission, Women's Center and many others. Can you think of a better way to give back to the community in which you live and work? If you have a minimum of four hours a week to share, we invite you to join the diverse team of energetic, dedicated and compassionate volunteers.
How can I help?
Volunteering opportunities are available for high school students (ages 15-17), college students and adults in various departments throughout the hospital. We try to match your talents and interests with an available volunteer position. There are many different opportunities depending on your skills and area of interest. Depending upon your assignment, some typical duties might include: greeting visitors, delivering flowers and mail to patients, answering phones and escorting visitors inside the hospital.
What's in it for me?
There are many benefits to becoming an adult volunteer. Studies show that people who help others are healthier, happier people. In addition to helping others, volunteers have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, gain new insights and achieve a sense of accomplishment. Volunteers also receive a free meal in the cafeteria on their assigned work day, free annual flu vaccination and are invited to attend various social activities throughout the year, including membership meetings, annual service awards dinner and many other hospital events.
How much volunteer time is required?
Active volunteers are expected to help at least four hours per week. Many volunteers choose to give more time than the minimum. Shifts are available Monday through Friday.

Do volunteers wear a uniform?
Adult volunteers receive a yellow vest provided by the hospital to wear while on duty. Volunteers are also required to wear a white shirt under the yellow vest; white, light gray, khaki, or black slacks; and white or black shoes (tennis shoes are permitted).
