LRMC Auxiliary awards $18,000 in scholarships

Longview, TX (May 16, 2019) — The Longview Regional Medical Center Auxiliary recently awarded scholarships totaling $18,000 to nine area high school students.
Each recipient received a $2,000 scholarship to pursue a career in a medical-related field of study.
The scholarships were given to Jaylin Blakeney, of Overton High School; Julia Capella, Longview High School; Kaleb Fitch, Pittsburg High School; Andi Freeman, Ore City High School; Emma Frierson, Longview High School; Laura Martinez, Longview High School; Tyler Newman, Spring Hill High School; Emma Price, Linden-Kildare High School; and Riley Stanley, Pine Tree High School.
Scholarship recipients are selected based on their academic records, references from educators and the community, and a short biographical essay stating their future plans. The students must demonstrate a high level of academic achievement in science and math and be of outstanding character and citizenship in the community and school.
Funds for the scholarships are made possible as result of fundraisers that the LRMC Auxiliary, which consists of more than 60 volunteers, conducts during the year.
