Longview Regional Medical Center receives Level III NICU designation

Longview, TX (August 1, 2018) — Longview Regional Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has been designated as a Level III Neonatal Facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
The designation requires 24-hour, in-house coverage specialized personnel, including board-certified neonatologists available at all times.
A Level III NICU designation is the second-to-highest level of neonatal care. The designation is a reflection of LRMC’s ability to care for and treat critically ill newborns.
“Achieving this designation in our NICU is an indication of our elevated standard of neonatal care, and it is a reflection of the commitment we have made through the years of delivering the highest quality medical care to all newborn infants in Longview and the surrounding communities of East Texas,” CEO Casey Robertson said.
State law requires all NICUs to apply for neonatal level of care designations and undergo rigorous evaluation and verification to ensure NICUs meet stringent clinical care guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Longview Regional Medical Center has 21 beds in its NICU, which serves the most critically ill and premature infants who require specialized care. The unit is equipped with intensive care nursery technology and is staffed by a compassionate team of medical professionals.
“Parents can rest assured that their babies are getting top-notch care in a setting that promotes family-centered care, close to their family and support systems,” said Kelly Chambliss, LRMC director of maternal and child services.
