LONGVIEW, TX (MARCH 30, 2023)– The skilled and compassionate hands of physicians, nurses and other team members of Longview Regional Medical Center support the health and well-being of patients. Beyond providing clinical care, Longview Regional Medical Center is a cornerstone of our community and a major contributor to the economic health of East Texas as a major employer and tax-payer and through resources invested to expand and enhance the medical services available close to home.
Employees and medical staff brought their skills and compassion to support more than 218,400 patient encounters. From 36,400 emergency department visits, to delivering joy as more than 2,300 babies took their first breaths in the L&D unit.
“We help people get well and live healthier by providing quality care for patients,” said Steve Gordon, chief executive officer for Longview Regional Medical Center. “Helping people get well and live healthier is rewarding work, and we are grateful for the trust every patient places in us.
Our community is truly fortunate to have this dedicated team of clinicians and caregivers here in East Texas who are making a real difference each and every day.”
Longview Regional Medical Center continues to grow and evolve as more than $3.98 million in capital resources are directed toward increased medical services, facilities and technologies that are important to patients. This includes bringing the latest robotic-assisted surgical system that supports complex operations. Access has been enhanced with the recruitment of a Gastroenterologist which means Gastroenterology and Hepatology care is offered locally.
Longview Regional Medical Center also gives back to the East Texas community by providing over $26.2 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable. And the payment of $10.3 million in property, sales and GRT taxes helps support civic resources and services. Support for local charitable and community organizations such as:
Greater Longview United Way - strengthening our community by offering financial support to 30 local agencies;
East Texas Angel Network - whose mission is to provide respite to families with terminally ill children;
HiWay 80 Rescue Mission- who works with the homeless in our area to provide shelter and a healing path to recovery, includes financial donations and outreach.
The hospital’s payroll of more than $108.9 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services. Last year the hospital added enhanced benefits to help team members achieve their personal and professional goals, including assistance with student loan repayments, reimbursement of licensure and certification expenses, as well as tuition reimbursement.
“The vital care we provide is only one part of the broad impact we have. We are a cornerstone of this community and we are committed to doing all we can to provide excellent healthcare services and to making East Texas a healthier, better community for all.”
