Addition of Electrophysiology Lab Continues Cardiology Investments into East Texas Community
Longview, Texas— (April 28, 2021) Longview Regional Medical Center’s Heart and Vascular Institute is investing $4.4 million to expand and enhance its cardiac services. The project adds a dedicated electrophysiology lab and improves the patient experience with renovations to the entry and public spaces of the Heart and Vascular Institute and Regional Clinics Cardiology Suite at 709 Medical Park Plaza. Renovation and construction are expected to take six months, with the new service available to patients this fall.
“Longview Regional Medical Center’s new EP lab allows us to provide timely and more complex cardiovascular treatments to patients seeking care right in their own community,” said Jorge Massare, M.D., Longview Regional Medical Center electrophysiologist.
The new electrophysiology lab will occupy 7,000 square feet square feet of space and will be equipped with advanced technologies. The new lab designed for electrophysiology will allow more patients to access these services locally. Minimally-invasive techniques will be used to diagnose and treat patients’ cardiovascular conditions, including irregular heartbeats or arrhythmias, without leaving the East Texas area.
"Longview Regional Medical Center is fortunate to have a longstanding, committed group of cardiac professionals who provide comprehensive, quality cardiac care to East Texas. We're very excited about this expansion of services as it will allow us to continue to provide unparalleled care to our community without traveling outside of the Longview area, “said Steve Gordon, Longview Regional Medical Center’s chief executive officer.
Additional cardiology enhancements include a newly renovated Heart and Vascular Institute entrance with convenient way-finding for patients and families. Designs for the new interior space feature plenty of comfortable guest seating and a welcoming environment.
The Regional Clinics Cardiology Suite will receive similar enhancements to assist in patients arriving for their appointment. Patients will be greeted by a comfortable, newly designed waiting area with amenities added to enhance their experience.
Previously, in March of 2018 Longview Regional Medical Center expanded local cardiac services with the addition of a $2.9 million cardiac catheterization lab. Since the cardiac catherization lab completion in 2018, more than 10,000 patients have benefited from access to advanced heart procedures in Longview from the hospitals’ cardiac team.
“Our goal at the Heart and Vascular Institute of Longview Regional is to achieve the best results for all of our patients and to improve their overall quality of life. I’m proud to practice alongside a vested team of fellow cardiac professionals who have a combined 300 years of cardiac care experience in East Texas,” said Samir Germanwala, D.O., Longview Regional Medical Center interventional cardiologist.
